Looking for a simple, easy-to-implement way to lower your risk of overpayments? We have one on this week’s podcast!
Many services reimbursed by Medicare, including many post-acute care services, like skilled nursing, hospice, and home health services, require the provider to meet certain requirements we refer to as “conditions of payment.” If a condition of payment isn’t satisfied, the service is not reimbursable and receiving reimbursement results in an overpayment. Often, these “conditions of payment” are administrative documents – such as having a signed and dated physician certification or a patient election statement.
Although compliance with these administrative documentation requirements is often straightforward, if your staff and providers do not understand the requirements or their importance, significant overpayments can arise. On this week’s podcast, we discuss how compliance officers can minimize overpayment risk with these types of administrative documentation requirements.
